Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation Board has appointed Janina Gawler as Chair.

The Foundation’s Board has thanked the immediate past Chair Paul Bird for his outstanding contribution since 2018 and for his dedication to leading the Foundation during its centenary year.

Janina has been an integral part of the Foundation since 2019 and has been Deputy Chair leading several important committees and grant advisory panels.

Her appointment as Chair marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first woman to hold this position in the Foundation's history. She is an experienced business and community leader with an unwavering commitment to social innovation, ESG and community development.

On accepting her new position Janina said, “It is an honour to be Chair of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. I am also delighted to be the first woman to be appointed as Chair.

“As we celebrate our centenary, we are also looking to the future to determine how we can continue to be an innovative funder and leader in the philanthropic sector as well as an inspiring foundation for our donor community.

“I look forward to leading Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation as Chair to support Melbourne to become a resilient, thriving and welcoming city for all people.”
